Assoc. Prof. Dr. Andrej Gregori – leading European expert on medicinal mushrooms

Director, MycoMedica d.o.o.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. AndrejGregori is a Slovenian biotechnologist, researcher and pioneer in the field of mycobiology, biotechnological technologies of mushroom cultivation and the development of nutritional supplements from medicinal fungi. He graduated as an agronomist at the Biotechnical Faculty of the University of Ljubljana, where he later also received his PhD in biotechnology. Today he works as an assistant professor at the same faculty, where he lectures on biology, cultivation and processing of mushrooms and participates in research projects with international and domestic partners.
Gregori’s scientific work is based on more than 20 years of research and practical experience with medicinal mushrooms. As an author or co-author, he has published a number of scientific and professional papers on mushroom cultivation and their bioactive compounds, including research on medicinal mushrooms growing in Slovenia and their use in dietary supplements.
In addition to his academic work, Gregori is also the founder and CEO of MycoMedica d.o.o., the company behind the GOBA® brand. Under his leadership, the company has become one of the leading independent European producers of medicinal mushroom supplements, which are developed and produced entirely in Europe with its own control of the entire process — from raw materials to finished products. This approach ensures that the products are made from certified organic raw materials and undergo strict laboratory control.
Gregorio’s approach combines traditional knowledge of mushroom use with modern scientific methods. He also presents his work through lectures and professional meetings at home and abroad, where he promotes understanding of the biological properties of mushrooms and their role in today’s approach to health and well-being.
As an author or co-author, he has participated in various international research projects and publications that address mushroom cultivation, methodology for extracting bioactive substances, and the potential effects of these substances on the human body. With his work, Gregori not only contributes to the development of quality natural products, but also to the growth of the scientific community that follows mycotherapy as an interdisciplinary field.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gregorij is respected both in scientific circles and among natural supplement manufacturers. Through his work, he strengthens the visibility of Slovenian knowledge about medicinal mushrooms and promotes the use of scientifically based approaches in practice — from laboratory research to the sustainable development of food products.
